The Florida REALTORS® and the Canada Real Estate Association have entered into a cross-border cooperation agreement to exchange information about international transactions and customers. The groups have signed a memorandum to develop a “mutually beneficial relationship” to encourage the sharing of information, including customer referrals.
“The value of international collaboration cannot be overstated,” says CREA’s CEO Michael Bourque. “This partnership will help REALTORS® in Canada and Florida who are interested in growing their cross-border referrals.”
Canadian buyers make up a significant portion of foreign buyers in the Sunshine State. Beyond just a referral swap, the trade groups also will work together to engage government officials via reports, data, and statistics to increase awareness of REALTORS®’ role and advocate for favorable legislation toward foreign investments. They will share relevant data and statistics on Florida-Canada real estate activities.
“Our REALTORS® will have the ability to share relevant research and statistics with one another, making it much easier to respond to inquiries to each other’s respective markets,” says Barb Sukkau, CREA president.
CREA represents more than 120,000 REALTORS® across Canada; Florida REALTORS® represents 180,000.
“As professionals in the real estate industry, we take pride in providing our knowledge and expertise to clients in Florida, Canada, and throughout the world,” says Eric Sain, the 2018 Florida REALTORS® president-elect. “Florida REALTORS® and CREA share common goals—we look forward to continuing our partnership and building more connections that increase business opportunities for all of our REALTOR® members.”
